A breath of fresh air

Today I had the opportunity to go a Bible study where there's is always a theme. Today's was "It's after Christmas so it's time to clean out the closet" This is an annual theme of mix matched napkins, and plates...It was a place where simple was embraced.

Fellowship was planned into the study and when the eating and gabbing was over the table cloth was removed and things were tidied in preparation for the Word. The Book is sacred to these women.

Instead of technology it was pocket calenders that were taken out as they talked about next weeks schedule.

Leadership is shared by all who come to class.  This week it fell to the sisters.  One lead what they call a devotion, what she personally is learning from the Word.  The other lead the actual Bible study.

Thank you notes were read, while cards of hellos were signed.

Each month these women go out into the world and minister to those in nursing homes.  They use conversation cards to help them out.
It's so good.  So simple.  So full of love.

The best part was the last 15 minutes: "The time of sharing."  Here it would be called the "Thanksgiving list".  They went around the room stating out loud in everyday speech, everyday things. They did this publicly, but not in formal prayer, the good things God had given them this past week.  Oh rest to my soul I did not want it to end!

Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you.  For the LORD is a God of justice; how blessed are all those who long for Him.
~ Isaiah 30:18
